6 Observations I Made While Overlooking http://www.pewinternet.org/Reports/2005/How-Women-and-Men-Use-the-Internet.aspx
1) I would have thought women used the internet in America more then men, however according to pewinternet.org women still fall behind men. Even though women under the age of 30 are infront of their male peers. It Is because of the older women that they trail. I would have thought the older women were even with their male age group.
2) It doesn't surprise me that men are more interested in the latest technologies and more apt to learning about them because it makes them look and feel smarter and more up to date with the rest of the world, probably comes down to trying to be more attractive to women in a sense.
3) It does not surprise me women use email, instant messaging, and other social networks more then men. That contributed to the reason as to why I thought women used the internet more then men, social networks could be a form of word of mouth for some internet activities.
4) Men use the internet more for fantasy football and sports news or hobbies which isn't surprising to me because I myself use the internet for all three of those things mentioned by pewinternet.org.
5) I would have thought women would have utilized online information more then men, but pewinternet.org found that men look for info on a wider variety of topics then women do. I would have thought women would have been higher because men tend to be lazier and don't soak up as much info.
6) It doesn't surprise me men use online transactions more then women because like I said in my last observation men tend to be lazier and online transactions are just easier and quicker.

Internet Neutrality
Julius Genachowski the FCC chairman plans to propose new rules that would prohibit Internet service providers from interfering with the free flow of information and certain applications over their networks. This is in direct effect to one of Barack Obamas proposals, Internet Neutrality- The equal treatment of internet traffic. While this might make information more accesible Internet Providers should be able to and need to have some control over their networks to make sure applications that take up a lot of space don't slow down the internet access to its users. But that is just my opinion apparantly Obama and the FCC don't feel the same.

Chinas dominance over internet usage in Asia
According to internetworldstats.com China has 338 Million internet users and the next closest was Japan with only 94 Million internet users. This kind of surprised me because of the restrictions China has on their internet, I'd expect them to be ahead but not but such a large margin.
Asia's internet use
Asia almost accounts for half of the internet users in the world according to internetworldstats.com. They have 704,213,930 internet users while the rest of the world has 964,656,478 totaling up at 1,668,870,408. The large population and their dependency on technology is probably the reason for these numbers.
Internet User Growth in the Americas
The user growth from 2000-2009 in the Caribbean was 1,534%(internetworldstats.com). This is probably so high because they are becoming more up to date with their technology.
more stats from internetworldstats.com
More from internetworldstats.com that surprises me is the penetration rate in all the Americas. North America wasn't surprisng with a 73.1% penetration rate. It's the other countries low percentages that shocks me. South America is at 33%, The Caribbean is at 22.%, and Central America is at 19%. I thought they would have been higher because of the progression most of these countries are making in their economy.
Internet World Stats
Something that surprised me while overlooking internetworldstats.com internet usage statistics for the Americas was that even though South America has over 50 Million more people than North America (S.A.-392,597,416 to N.A.-340,831,831), North America still has more than 100 Million more internet users. I feel that it is probably this way because South America has a higher poverty rate than North America does.
